Brianna Sullivan

It’s feeling out loud that we do

For me, sensations

Bones swimming in our granting flesh

I’ll create to provoke feeling

There is no answer, it evolves

Explore, discover, then share that experience

my journey

Brianna Sullivan is a contemporary dance artist, choreographer, and teacher whose love for movement began at the age of four, twirling along the beaches of Florida, USA. Though her early years were spent in the warmth of the coast, she grew up in the frozen prairies of Manitoba, Canada. In Winnipeg, Brianna trained extensively and competed at the national level at Kickit Dance Studio, where her passion for dance was deeply cultivated. In 2ol8, she joined the studio’s faculty, discovering a profound love for teaching and choreography.

After twelve years of training and teaching in Winnipeg, Brianna made the trek to Boston to pursue her BFA in contemporary dance at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee. While exploring new creative terrain, she has performed in several mainstage works, including SAMA by Andrea Miller, ThreadBare by Andrew Skeels and The One She Holds by Omar Román de Jesús. She has also shared her choreographic voice through student productions and commissioned choreographic works, most notably with her mainstage works Yearning Out Loud and Loses Sunglasses, Keeps Pounding Drums. Extending her artistry into dance film, Brianna produced A Love Letter to Boston and Pretty Little Things, the latter earning her the Emerging Artist Award at the Boston Dance Film Festival.

Brianna continues to deepen her artistry through participation in renowned summer intensives, including Arts Umbrella, DART, Henny Jurriëns, and GagaLab at Orsolina 28. Rooted in improvisation, partnering, and sensation-driven movement, her practice is continually shaped by new environments and cultures, fueling her curiosity for experimental processes and new creative experiences.
